FILMMAKER FOCUS: Deloss Pickett and Michael Dallum




South Bay grad makes case for movie about "Three Strikes"




Third Strike could be a win



Deloss started his film career at the age of 15 with a minor role in the independent comedy "Diamonds in the Rough," which became a cult hit in Spain. Since that time Deloss' passion for the industry has flourished. He often got his creative fix performing in front of the camera as well as on stage.


While in High School, Deloss toured the world with The Music Machine, dazzling audiences with his performance. In college, Deloss found his true passion behind the camera writing, producing and directing narratives and documentaries. Deloss received his BA degree from California State University, Monterey Bay in film studies.

Deloss served as Producer and Director of the short film documentary 25 to Life which was a call to reconsider California's 'Three Strikes' law. 25 to Life was an official selection at Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, Jackson Hole Film Festival, and Mill Valley Film Festival. 25 to Life was also recognized as runner-up for best short film by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) while at Mill Valley. Deloss currently lives in the Los Angeles area and continues to develop his own projects. Currently he is in post-production on the feature-length version of 25 to Life.


Michael is a San Francisco Bay Area transplant who moved to the Los Angeles area in 2005 to pursue a career in film production. Michael graduated with honors from California State University, Monterey Bay in 2004 with a BA degree in film studies.


Michael started his arts career in the theatre having garnered an AA degree in Theatre Arts from Las Positas College in early 2002. Michael performed and directed various stage productions in the Greater Bay Area and was nominated for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Award from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in 2001. He was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor by Pleasanton Playhouse in 2002 for his on-stage work in a musical.

Recently, Michael wrote and directed the short film narrative "Remembrance", which was an official selection at San Francisco Short Film Festival.

Michael was also Director of Photography and Editor of the short film documentary 25 to Life which was a call to reconsider California's 'Three Strikes' law. 25 to Life was an official selection at Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, Jackson Hole Film Festival, and Mill Valley Film Festival. 25 to Life was also recognized as honorable mention for best short film by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) while at Mill Valley. Michael continues to develop his own projects and is currently in post-production on the full-length version of 25 to Life.
